đź–¤ Black Friday Non-Shopper Chronicles
Day 1: The Refusal
Today we begin our sacred four-day journey:
No Black Friday.
No Cyber Monday.
No carts.
No clicks.
No impulse-driven capitalism rituals.
Just vibes.
While millions of people are refreshing websites like raccoons on energy drinks, we are sitting calmly in our truth — hands in our pockets, wallets asleep, dopamine unhacked.
This is not about being cheap.
This is about being unimpressed.
The Lies We Are Joyfully Ignoring Today
• “Once-in-a-lifetime deals” that appear every 6 weeks
• Discounts that quietly raised prices last week
• Flash sales designed to make grown adults feel like contestants on a game show
• “Only 3 left in stock!” lies told by robots with no moral compass
If you see a clock ticking down on a website today, just remember:
That’s not urgency.
That’s emotional manipulation with Wi-Fi.
What We’re Doing Instead
Today, Day 1 Non-Shoppers may be found:
âś” Reading
âś” Napping
âś” Watching comfort TV
âś” Walking with no destination
âś” Eating leftovers with pride
âś” Looking at something and deciding not to own it
Every time you choose not to buy, a marketing executive somewhere refreshes their dashboard and whispers, “Why won’t you just add it to cart?”
Stay strong.
Feelings May Arise
Around mid-afternoon, you may feel:
- A tiny twitch of wanting a deal
- A sudden obsession with a product you’ve never needed
- The urge to check “just to look”
This is normal.
This is called consumer withdrawal.
Breathe through it.
You don’t need that air fryer.
You don’t need those organizing bins.
You definitely don’t need matching holiday pajamas for people you secretly hope cancel.
Today’s Non-Shopping Affirmation
Repeat after me:
“I do not need a discount to feel important.
I do not validate my existence through free shipping.
I am complete without a promo code.”
Closing Thoughts
Being a non-participant in Black Friday is a bold act of resistance in a world addicted to stuff and run by corporate elites who don’t give a shit us. For them it’s just all about power and money. Send them a little message with an act of resistanc.
We are not buying joy.
We are not purchasing comfort.
We are not treating consumerism like a seasonal sport.
We are simply… opting out.
Which is somehow deeply luxurious.
See you tomorrow for Day 2: The Quiet Weekend
Where we continue doing absolutely nothing… beautifully.
