Day 6: Scarcity is a mindset. Abundance is a decision.

Day 6: Scarcity is a mindset. Abundance is a decision.

Scarcity Is a Story. And You’ve Been Rehearsing It.

A 10 Day Mindful Activist Reset

Let’s talk about the quiet voice that says:

There’s not enough.

Not enough time.

Not enough money.

Not enough opportunity.

Not enough room for me.

That voice.

It sounds practical. Responsible. Even wise.

It is often none of those things.

It is scarcity.

And scarcity is not a bank balance. It is a lens.

There’s a reason teachers like Peter Sage push hard on this idea: if you operate from scarcity, it does not matter what you acquire. You will still feel behind.

Scarcity is the belief that resources are limited and fragile — and that if someone else wins, you lose.

It is the belief that success is rationed.

That love is conditional.

That attention is competitive.

That opportunity is rare.

Scarcity says:

If I invest in myself, I’m selfish.

If I raise my rates, people will leave.

If I speak boldly, I’ll lose approval.

If I try something new, I’ll waste time.

Scarcity feels cautious.

Abundance feels reckless.

But here’s the truth:

Scarcity is often just fear wearing sensible shoes.

And many of us were raised on it.

We were taught to save scraps.

To not ask for too much.

To be grateful for what we got.

To not outshine.

To not risk stability.

There is wisdom in prudence.

But there is paralysis in chronic contraction.

Scarcity shrinks your decisions.

It makes you choose safety over possibility.

Smallness over growth.

Hoarding over contribution.

And here’s the part that’s uncomfortable:

Scarcity is self-fulfilling.

When you believe there isn’t enough, you under-invest.

When you under-invest, your results shrink.

When your results shrink, you say, “See? There isn’t enough.”

Round and round.

Abundance, on the other hand, is not naïveté.

It is not pretending money grows on trees.

It is the belief that value can be created.

That skills can be learned.

That networks can be built.

That energy can be expanded.

That there is more than one path.

Abundance says:

I can grow.

I can adapt.

I can create.

Abundance does not ignore reality.

It refuses to be defined by it.

Think about this in your own life.

Where are you making decisions from contraction?

Are you holding back your ideas because you assume there’s no room?

Are you delaying action because you assume you can’t afford to try?

Are you silencing yourself because you assume influence is already taken?

Scarcity keeps you reactive.

Abundance makes you creative.

And here’s something else no one says loudly enough:

Abundance is not about having more.

It’s about believing you can generate more.

Different energy entirely.

When you operate from scarcity, you cling.

When you operate from abundance, you build.

You invest in yourself even before you feel “ready.”

You contribute even before you feel “secure.”

You create even before you see guaranteed return.

Because you understand that capacity expands with use.

And yes, this requires courage.

Scarcity feels stable.

Abundance feels like stepping into uncertainty.

But every expansion in your life — every new friendship, every career pivot, every personal reinvention — required you to believe there could be more.

More meaning.

More possibility.

More strength.

More room.

You did not arrive here by hoarding.

You arrived here by growing.

Call to Action

Today, I want you to notice one decision you are making from scarcity.

Just one.

Then ask yourself:

What would this look like if I chose from abundance instead?

Not fantasy.

Abundance.

Make one small decision from expansion today.

Invest. Speak. Apply. Create.

And tell me what shifted. Send email to contact@juliebolejack.com

Scarcity is a story.

You get to choose a different one.

Julie Bolejack, MBA - The Mindful Activist

Before you go —

This is part of a 10-day series about identity, growth, courage, and the quiet mechanics that shape a life.

In a time when the news cycle thrives on urgency, outrage, and fear… I wanted to build something different.

Not denial.

Not disengagement.

But steadiness.

We cannot control the swirl of the headlines.

We cannot single-handedly fix the noise.

But we can control who we are becoming inside it.

Over these ten days, we’re reclaiming agency.

Identity.

Standards.

Environment.

Value.

Courage.

Uncertainty.

These are not abstract ideas. They are anchors.

And anchors matter when the cultural waters feel choppy.

If this series is helping you feel clearer, steadier, or just a little less pulled into the panic — I hope you’ll do three things:

• Follow the series so you don’t miss the next one.

• Share it with someone who could use relief from the noise.

• Subscribe if you’re not already here at: Julies-journal.ghost.io

Forward it. Post it. Talk about it over coffee.

Because calm, deliberate growth is quietly rebellious right now.

And we need more of that.
