Iran and Project 2025

Attacking Iran is not explicitly outlined in the Project 2025 policy documents. However, the ideology and objectives within Project 2025 absolutely pave the way for aggressive foreign policy decisions like a strike on Iran. Let me explain.
🔥 What is Project 2025?
Project 2025 is a sweeping right-wing blueprint developed by the Heritage Foundation and other Trump-aligned groups. It’s a roadmap to dismantle the federal government’s current structure, centralize power in the presidency, purge civil servants, and reorient domestic and foreign policy to fit a Christian nationalist and authoritarian mold.
🧨 What is in Project 2025 related to Iran?
Here are key elements that relate indirectly but significantly to the potential for conflict with Iran:
1. Scrapping the Iran Nuclear Deal (again)
Project 2025 states that returning to any version of the Iran nuclear deal would be “a grievous mistake.” It argues for a posture of “maximum pressure” — a term used under Trump that included crushing sanctions and constant military posturing.
2. Rejecting Diplomacy
The document rejects multilateral diplomacy in favor of “America First” unilateral action. This removes the guardrails of international cooperation that might otherwise restrain impulsive or provocative moves like bombing Iran.
3. Defense Department Overhaul
Project 2025 wants to fill the Department of Defense with loyalists, remove civilian oversight that moderates military action, and weaken congressional checks on military power — making a unilateral strike much more likely and less accountable.
4. Dismantling Intelligence Independence
The playbook calls for purging the intelligence community of career professionals and replacing them with ideologically aligned Trump loyalists. That’s the same intelligence community that Trump ignored when they said Iran posed no imminent threat.
5. Strengthening the Imperial Presidency
The goal is to expand the president’s war powers and remove barriers like Congress or courts. A president operating under this framework could bomb without meaningful oversight — much like what we’re seeing now.
đź’Ł So, Was Bombing Iran in the Playbook?
No — Project 2025 doesn’t name specific military targets like Iran. But it creates the environment in which bombing a country based on flimsy or politically motivated intelligence becomes both possible and likely
It doesn’t say “Go bomb Iran.”
But it does say:
- Replace generals and diplomats with loyalists.
- Ignore international law.
- Kill the Iran deal.
- Consolidate war powers under the president.
- Disregard intelligence that doesn’t support the narrative.
So if you’re wondering how we got here — Project 2025 may not have lit the match, but it soaked everything in gasoline.
