Julie’s Journal — Sunday Edition

If you woke up this morning feeling a little groggy, it’s not your imagination.

Overnight the clocks sprang forward for daylight saving time. Somewhere around 2:00 a.m., the clock jumped to 3:00 a.m., and just like that an entire hour quietly disappeared while most of us were asleep.

Less sleep.

More daylight.

And a slightly confused Sunday morning.

It’s one of the stranger traditions we still follow as a society — this idea that we can simply move the clock forward and carry on as if nothing happened.

But there’s something interesting about it if you think about it.

A one-hour shift in time changes the entire rhythm of our day.

Sunsets happen later. Evenings stretch out a little longer. Suddenly the world feels just a bit brighter after dinner. People linger outside more. Walks get longer. The day opens up in a different way.

A small shift in time changes the way we experience life.

And that idea — the power of small shifts — is something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately.

Because let’s be honest: the world right now feels like a constant stream of noise.

Every day there are new headlines designed to spike our anxiety. Political chaos. Economic worries. Endless arguments on social media. The news cycle spinning so fast it can feel impossible to keep your footing.

If we’re not careful, all of that noise starts shaping how we think and feel.

It’s exhausting.

Which is exactly why I’ve created something new for all of us.

Starting this Tuesday in Julie’s Journal, I‘m launching a special series called the 10-Day Mindful Activist Reset.

This series is designed to do something simple but powerful: help us step back from the daily swirl of chaos and reconnect with the kind of thinking that actually strengthens our lives.

Each day for ten days we’ll explore one idea that can help reset how we approach our lives, our work, and our role in the world.

Over the course of the series we’ll explore ideas like:

• Why identity shapes your future more than goals

• Why chasing value matters more than chasing money

• Why courage often matters more than information

• Why your environment shapes you more than willpower

• Why a little fear usually means you’re growing

• Why uncertainty isn’t the enemy — it’s the arena where life actually happens

Each newsletter will be practical, and designed to give you something meaningful to carry with you throughout the day.

Every day will include:

• A reflection on the day’s principle

• A music recommendation to shift your energy

• A reading suggestion if you want to go deeper

• A simple mindset reset you can use immediately

Think of it as ten days of clarity in a very noisy world.

Ten days to step outside the outrage cycle.

Ten days to think a little more slowly.

Ten days to reconnect with the kind of mindset that allows us to stay engaged with the world without letting the chaos take over our minds.

That’s really what being a Mindful Activist is about.

Not ignoring the world’s problems.

But refusing to let the noise control our thinking, our emotions, or our sense of purpose.

So as we begin this Sunday — a morning that arrived an hour earlier than our bodies expected — consider it a small symbolic reset.

A shift in time.

A shift in light.

And maybe the perfect moment for a shift in perspective.

If this sounds like something you need right now, I hope you’ll join me for the 10-Day Mindful Activist Reset.

Make sure you’re subscribed to Julie’s Journal so you receive each day of the series.

Then stick with it for the full ten days. Read it, reflect on it, and share it with someone who might need a reset as much as you do.

Because sometimes the most powerful change doesn’t come from dramatic action.

Sometimes it starts with a small shift in how we think.

Just like that one lost hour overnight.

And sometimes that small shift is enough to change everything.
