The Declaration of the People of the United States in the Year 2025
When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for a people to reaffirm the principles for which their ancestors bled, we are compelled to speak plainly of the injuries and usurpations inflicted upon us.
A decent respect to the opinions of humankind requires that we should declare the causes that impel us to this renewed vigilance.
We hold these truths to be self-evident:
That all people are created equal;
That they are endowed with certain unalienable Rights;
That among these are Liberty, Justice, Safety, Dignity, and the quiet assurance that their leaders will not use the powers of government to harm them.
That governments are established among the people to secure these rights, deriving their just authority from the consent of the governed.
That whenever any Administration becomes destructive of these ends, it is the duty of the people to hold it accountable by all peaceful and constitutional means available, and to resist the corrosion of democracy with all the courage their ancestors once summoned.
Such has been the patient suffering of the American people; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to catalog the injuries of the current President and his administration.
The history of the present President is a history of repeated offenses, abuses, and hostilities toward the democratic foundations of this Republic, all having in direct object the establishment of his own power and the diminishment of ours.
To prove this, let the facts be submitted to a candid world:
Grievances
He has attacked the free press, declaring as enemies those who reveal truths unpleasant to his ambitions, thereby chilling the essential watchdog of self-government.
He has wielded federal agencies as weapons, dispatching loyalists to investigate, harass, or silence political opponents, critics, and private citizens exercising their constitutional rights.
He has undermined the independence of the judiciary, rewarding complacent loyalty while publicly intimidating judges, prosecutors, and jurors who dare to uphold the rule of law.
He has embraced foreign strongmen while alienating longstanding allies, placing political vanity above national security and inviting foreign interference in the affairs of our sovereign nation.
He has treated military experience, sacrifice, and service with contempt, tarnishing the careers of dedicated officers, punishing those who resist his whims, and elevating unqualified loyalists over honorable leaders.
He has degraded the truth itself, spreading fabrications so vast and constant that public trust—once the backbone of our civic life—buckles under the weight of relentless deception.
He has repeatedly interfered in elections, attempting to bend the machinery of democracy to his personal benefit, thus threatening the very legitimacy of the vote.
He has encouraged domestic extremism, giving comfort to those who menace their fellow citizens, and offering safe harbor to groups that reject the peaceful transfer of power.
He has pursued policies that harm the vulnerable, stripping protections from children, seniors, workers, immigrants, and the environment we all share.
He has fostered division, pitting neighbor against neighbor, community against community, and state against state, seeking not unity but perpetual grievance for his own advantage.
He has used public office for private gain, steering taxpayer funds, political appointments, and federal contracts toward himself, his businesses, and his loyalists.
He has diminished America’s moral leadership, turning the shining beacon of democracy into a flickering lamp of self-interest and cruelty.
He has shown open disregard for science and public health, endangering lives through reckless decisions and elevating superstition over evidence.
He has mocked and undermined women, dismissing their expertise, diminishing their contributions, and weaponizing public platforms to demean and intimidate them.
He has eroded trust in every institution, from schools to courts to elections, leaving the nation more fragile, fearful, and fragmented.
He has attacked the foundational idea of equality, promoting policies and rhetoric that target minority communities, religious groups, immigrants, LGBTQ Americans, and political opponents.
He has sought to dismantle cultural and historical institutions, interfering in arts, academia, science, and public knowledge, preferring ignorance over understanding.
He has turned the machinery of government into a stage for personal vengeance, and the sacred office of the presidency into a spectacle of grievance and retribution.
In every stage of these oppressions, Americans have petitioned for redress in the most humble terms.
Their repeated petitions have been answered only by ridicule, retaliation, and contempt.
A president whose character is thus marked by authoritarian impulses is unfit to lead a free people.
Declaration of Resolve
We, therefore, the People of the United States, appealing to the spirit of our Founders for the rectitude of our intentions, solemnly declare:
That we will defend truth against falsehood;
Democracy against tyranny;
Science against ignorance;
Equality against supremacy;
Compassion against cruelty;
And the rule of law against the rule of one man.
That we will stand firm in the face of intimidation.
That we will vote, march, speak, write, sue, organize, resist, and rebuild.
That we will remember our ancestors who stood against kings—actual kings—and refused to bow.
And for the support of this declaration,
With a firm reliance on the good sense of our fellow citizens and the enduring promise of our Constitution,
We pledge to one another our vigilance, our energy, and our unwavering devotion to the democratic ideals we inherited and refuse to surrender.
Thus do we declare our intention:
Not to overthrow our Union,
But to save it.
