🎄 The Last Weekend Before Christmas To-Do List

1. Declare a “No New Plans” Rule

Whatever is already on the calendar stays.

Whatever isn’t… politely waits until January.

This is not laziness. This is seasonal wisdom.

2. Put on Music That Makes the House Feel Alive

Not background music.

Commitment music.

Holiday jazz, Motown Christmas, French café Noël vibes, or that album you always play but somehow haven’t yet.

3. Finish ONE Thing You’ve Been Avoiding

Wrap the last gifts.

Address the last card.

Order the one thing you forgot (with overnight shipping and a little prayer).

Then stop. One thing is enough.

4. Eat Something Purely for Joy

Not balanced. Not virtuous.

Just delicious.

Examples:

  • A warm pastry
  • Something with butter and sugar
  • A cookie eaten standing up at the counter

Bonus points if you don’t tell anyone you had it.

5. Do One Tiny Thing That Feels “Christmasy”

Choose one, not five:

  • Light candles
  • Watch 20 minutes of a holiday movie
  • Drive around looking at lights
  • Read a favorite childhood story
  • Make hot chocolate (or spiked cocoa, no judgment)

Stop when it stops being fun.

6. Move Your Body Gently

This is not a workout.

  • Walk outside
  • Stretch
  • Dance badly in the kitchen

The goal is circulation, not redemption.

7. Say “That’s Good Enough” Out Loud

Say it at least once.

About the house.

About the gifts.

About yourself.

This officially counts as productivity.

8. Make the Space Feel Calm for “Future You”

Do one of these:

  • Clear one counter
  • Set out mugs for the morning
  • Put fresh sheets on the bed

You are quietly helping the version of you who wakes up on Christmas.

9. Check in With Someone You Love

One text.

One call.

No long updates required.

“Thinking of you” is a complete message.

10. Go to Bed a Little Earlier Than Usual

Not because you’re old.

Because Christmas is better when you’re rested.

Optional, But Highly Recommended

  • Cancel one thing
  • Laugh at something inappropriate
  • Lower expectations by 10% and watch happiness rise by 30%
