Your Email About Budget Cuts – A Masterclass in Gaslighting
Dear Mr. Couchman,
Thanks so much for your condescending little love letter about Trump’s $9 billion in “spending cuts” and the “painful consequences” of Biden’s economic policies. Always a treat to watch billion-dollar donor-backed organizations pretend to care about the daily struggles of working families.
Let’s break down your talking points – or should I say, your propaganda points – shall we?
First, about those $9 billion in cuts: congratulations on trimming a few crumbs while cheering on tax breaks for billionaires and corporations that hoard wealth offshore. If that’s your idea of “fiscal responsibility,” maybe check your math – or your conscience.
Second, the idea that the Inflation Reduction Act caused inflation is so laughably backwards I almost spit out my coffee. Inflation was already surging worldwide thanks to pandemic supply chain issues and corporate price gouging. But sure, let’s blame the guy trying to lower prescription drug costs and invest in clean energy.
Third, you’re right – Americans did feel the burden. You know what else they feel? The utter contempt groups like AFP have for programs that actually help real people. Child tax credits? Lifesavers. SNAP benefits? Lifelines. But if it’s not lining the pockets of oil barons or private equity execs, it’s apparently “waste.”
You say this isn’t about slashing essential programs – but we’ve seen this movie before. You want to privatize, defund, deregulate, and then act shocked when nothing works for everyday Americans. Your op-ed might play well in The Hill echo chamber, but out here in the real world, we can smell the Koch-funded spin a mile away.
Bottom line? We don’t need budget cuts that hurt working families under the guise of “fiscal responsibility.” We need billionaires to pay their fair share, corporations to stop writing legislation, and dark-money-funded “policy fellows” like yourself to stop pretending you speak for the American people.
Sincerely,
Julie Bolejack

Above was my response to recent email from Americans for Prosperity (see below) who is a Koch funded group buying up Congress. I’ve written about them previously- BEWARE
