People sometimes assume writing was a dramatic pivot from my corporate life. But I’ve always been creative. Creativity simply looked different in those years. I used it to solve business problems, design systems, manage complex projects, and build solutions from ambiguity. Writing books feels less like becoming creative — and more like finally expressing creativity in a different language.

I didn’t become creative after leaving corporate America. I finally recognized that I had been creative all along.

Some people think creativity belongs only to artists, musicians, or writers. But creativity is much broader than that. A lawyer crafting an argument is creative. A programmer building elegant solutions is creative. A project manager navigating complexity and bringing order to chaos is creative. A business leader reimagining broken systems is creative.

For years, I used creativity inside corporate environments — developing computerized solutions, solving operational problems, translating ideas into systems that worked for real people. That work required imagination, intuition, strategy, and innovation every single day.

Writing may look different from the outside, but to me it feels deeply connected to the work I’ve always done. The medium changed. The creativity did not.

My first book had a soft launch..and that’s as I planned it. I’m not looking to manage another big project. However, I enjoy learning and the process is giving me plenty of opportunities to explore new areas.

I’m working on my second book and also an online course to accompany it. Why not?

Yesterday Dale and I recorded our first, yet to be published, Podcast. The story behind that is last week we celebrated 48 years married. Our podcast is the lead to our 50th anniversary. I’ll share more about that later.

A friend just took home hardware from a world kettlebell competition in Moldova. About 4 years ago he was diagnosed with a brain tumor the size of a baseball. He endured surgery and multiple treatments with no promises of success. Since then he’s had his first child and rebuilt his body to world class level.

Why am I telling you all this? Life is short..we know that and yet we often don’t appreciate what we have. Enjoy each day! Take a moment to document your experience. I’m encouraging my friend to document his and maybe one day write a book about his challenges. I’d encourage you to as well.

Today we’re doing something my husband has always dreamed of..buying a Stingray Corvette. (It’s not my thing..yesterday I bought 5 Caftans from Bali.) However, Dale has worked since age 14 and if he wants a Corvette..he’s getting one.

I’ll ride in it with him in my Bali attire! :)

The whole family is acting like it’s Christmas over the car! Seriously they are out of control!!! Granddaughter, created this and is begging for the first ride. Dale says first rides are free and thereafter are $1.75. 😀
